| Brand Development on a Budget The Academy of Architecture, Construction & Engineering: Educating the Next Generation of the Design-Build Industry (www.acecharterschool.org)
This new charter high school delivers innovative, hands-on education, integrating sustainability into the curriculum. K Communications has served to recruit students for its inaugural academic year – on a shoestring budget (PR, focus groups, website, advertising, sponsorships, open houses, direct mail, etc.), coach students on the marketing and presentation skills and provide outreach to the design-build community. The industry has responded in volumes to serve as mentors, guest speakers and provide in-kind and cash donations. |

| The Mazamas: Moutaineering Club
The Mazamas, a local 108-year old mountaineering club, discovered in the process of strategic planning that they needed to tap into the next generation of climbers. We examined what was of interest to this new demographic - who they are, what inspires them, what would entice them to be members and how to get them involved. Next, we compared what the club had to offer. Armed with this assessment, we refined and refreshed the Mazama brand. To support the brand, we generated new, powerful communication tools. One such tool was a dynamic and inviting postcard which drew immediate attention to the spirit of the club - a spirit that mirrored their audience – and directed potential new members to the club's web site for more information. The postcard "brochure" fit the audience, the club's objectives and the budget constraints.
